Seasonal Beer All Year Round?
Well it finally happen. Pumpkin beer can be bought in the middle of July. Last year I remember pumpkin beer being in stores Mid-August. I had the conversation last year was it to early for the pumpkin beers to be hitting the selves?
Last year I was able to rationalize pumpkin beer in August. Training camp has started, kids are starting to get school supplies, college students are heading back to the dorm rooms. All three of those are the signs for fall is coming, might as well have a great pumpkin beer as summer ends, and fall begins.
Now its Mid-July... The Fourth of July just happened, there is still another half of summer. Does anyone want a pumpkin beer? When I drink a pumpkin beer I imagine the leaves changing, wearing hoodies, and watching football all day. It is summer still we have a month and change left of summer. I still want to drink those great wheat beers, or those wonderful IPA's.
Personally for me pumpkin beers need to stay as a fall beer. It is so great and special, because the taste reminds me of fall. If you start making seasonal beer all year round then anarchy will happen. I can not live in a world of anarchy, I know I will not make it, and I am OK with that fact. All pumpkin beer makers, please wait till Mid-August to start selling your devious and awesome beer.
